time lapse night shot boulder forest fire (via BoulderOSteens)

Wanted a bicycle bell for one of my bikes and a moment of inspiration ensued. That, and there was a pile of used inner tubes and a broken mechanical alarm clock lying around…

This could alternately be constructed from two Shrader or Presta valves respectively. I just liked the idea of combining the two. Could also use a large brass washer in lieu of a bell. Might even look better, assuming you could find one that has a decent ring to it.

(off topic) Beware the intoxicating effect of the “double-rainbow”.

The Design Ethos of Dieter Rams “…I never use this term, ‘form follows function’…”.

It’s got goats, architecture and engineering… What’s not to like!

Augmented Shadow by Joon Moon

“…Augmented Shadow is a design experiment producing an artificial shadow effect through the use of tangible objects, blocks, on a displayable tabletop interface. Its goal is to offer a new type of user-experience. The project plays on the fact that shadows present distorted silhouettes depending on the light. Augmented Shadows take the distortion effect into the realm of fantasy. Shadows display below the objects according to the physics of the real world. However, the shadows themselves transform the objects into houses, occupied by shadow creatures. By moving the blocks around the table the user sets off series of reactions within this new fantasy ecosystem…”

Always interesting how a subtle tilt-shift affects one’s perception. When you think of it, it’s really a learned phenomena given macro photography. Wonder if someone pre-daguerreotype and other early cameras would actually experience it differently from us, raised under ubiquitous photography as we are?…

Amazing tiltshift, timelapse video of life in New York entitledThe Sandpit’ which was directed and compiled by Sam O’Hare.

Its amazing what humans have evolved and built since our very first settlements! Some great urban scenes in it as well!
